Since it’s Black Friday season, we’ll be seeing all of these unbeatable deals with “massive” savings. However, the hype will often lead to buyer’s remorse before you know it. Why? You end up not using them for months until they end up in the drawer. You see, that’s just unnecessary hoarding and shopping for things we don’t need, driven by the fear of missing out. With that, here are the 7 Black Friday purchases most of us regret making during the shopping frenzy.

7. Food

Yes, some people tend to bulk up on food purchases because of buy-one-take-one deals. With this, we often pick up food we don’t even want to eat. They end up stuck in our pantry until we throw them out. They’re regrettable since they have expiration dates, so it’s best to avoid stocking up on food items. Remember, wasted food is wasted money.

6. Toys

If you’re a parent, it’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy of buying toys for your children. However, that “hot toy” of the season you buy for them as a Christmas gift might not be something they’d play with for weeks. They will become unnecessary clutter by next year. It’s perfectly all right to buy one or two toys as a gift. Reserved the other gifts for something they can use and enjoy, and avoid buying tons of toys.

5. DIY and Home Improvement Products

It’s easy to get lost in a sea of deals during Black Friday season. But think about those tools and materials you’re eyeing for projects that you won’t even complete. They’re usually the unused purchases that will sit in your home for a year until you decide to declutter for the next season. Be intentional when selecting DIY tools for Black Friday.

4. Fitness Equipment

Buying exercise equipment may be a spur-of-the-moment decision for you since they’re on sale for a great deal. Before purchasing, ensure you are committed to achieving your fitness goals. Otherwise, it will just collect dust and become a clothes hanger by next month. Give yourself time and do deep research about the activity you intend to do. This especially goes for expensive sports equipment.

3. Kitchen Gadgets and Trendy Appliances

We’re talking about spur-of-the-moment kitchen appliances and gadgets just because you see others picking them up. We’re talking about Instant Pots, bread makers, and juicers that will likely collect dust in your kitchen. They seem to have an amazing deal for Black Friday, but they’ll just take up space in your kitchen.

2. Electronics (Especially Off-Brand Models)

Expect retailers to push lower prices for off-brand screens that seem like a steal, but be aware that they may not last until the next Black Friday. This will also be an issue with outdated models that are disguised as deals. You see, that off-brand TV will not be worth it, so just save up to get the latest tech.

1. Clothing and Shoes

The problem with buying clothing is the tendency to make impulse purchases of trendy items that don’t complement anything in your wardrobe. There’s also the issue of it being of poor quality, so it’s sold at a huge discount. What seems like a steal on Black Friday will end up with the tags still on the next Black Friday.
