While most people treat Sunday as a countdown to Monday’s misery, successful individuals see this as a strategic opportunity. The final hours before a new week mean setting themselves up for success. Here are the 7 moves they do to help make the next week easier for them.

7. Disconnect and Practice “Purposeful Rejuvenation”

Successful people create a strategy where they take the weekends off. For instance, X (formerly Twitter) and Square co-founder Jack Dorsey works 16 hours a week from Monday to Friday. However, he takes off by Saturday, and on Sundays, he reflects on feedback and strategy, preparing for the rest of the week. Successful people know that rest isn’t an absence of work, but rather a form of recovery that enables them to return on Monday energized.

6. Exercise and Move Your Body

Having at least one activity every weekend that makes their body move is part of every successful person’s weekend routine. They understand the importance of an active body and mind, which is why they energize themselves through exercise. To them, it’s a form of refreshment from the stress brought on by work.

5. Review Goals and Dreams

At the end of their work week, they set aside time to review their goals and dreams. They track their progress to encourage themselves. This regular check-in will remind you of your long-term aspirations, which can become buried by the everyday stressors of life. Reconnecting gives you the purpose of what you do.

4. Practice Single-Tasking and Be Present

Multi-tasking is overrated; try slowing things down every weekend. While it’s tempting to be productive to get work done, successful people know that there’s a time for everything. Be present for each activity you’re doing to make the most out of them. This will also give you better results towards what you’re aiming for.

3. Plan and Prep One Anchor Meal

Instead of batch-cooking in towers of glass containers, productive people pick one anchor meal that covers two lunches and one emergency dinner. After that, they prepare a no-effort treat, such as mango chunks or portioned almonds, as snacks. Start your week off with a full refrigerator to get an idea of what you’ll have for the week.

2. Set Three to Five “Big Rocks” for the Coming Week

Productive people start the week by reviewing how the previous week went. After that, they plan the new week with a strategy that focuses on a few important tasks instead of many small ones. They schedule the big tasks first and intentionally leave gaps in their calendar to avoid burnout and handle unexpected events.

1. Volunteer or Give Back to the Community

Successful people often incorporate community work into their weekend routines. Every month, they set a number of hours for volunteering. Giving back provides a sense of perspective for them and connects them with the real world, far from their weekday stressors.
